PebblesBlue Roan Quarter Horse Mare

    Name:   Pebbles
    Breed:   Blue Roan Quarter Horse
    Age:   10
    Height:   15.1 hh
    Gender:   Mare

How this pretty little lady ended up at auction, we’ll never understand! But that’s exactly where this beautiful blue roan, rumored to be a Blue Valentine Quarter Horse, ended up in spring 2021. Skinny, nervous, and covered in cuts, Pebbles was quickly scooped up by Believe. Little did we know, Pebbles was pregnant at the time and she surprised the team a few months later with the birth of a healthy baby boy! In spite of her poor care prior to coming to rescue, Pebbles had no issues with her pregnancy or delivery and fell easily into the tasks of motherhood. A testament to her gentle and resilient nature, Pebbles was trusting of our team with her new baby from day one, allowing both her and Calvin to be socialized and handled. When she was ready to start evaluation and work, our trainers were excited to discover that Pebbles had been ridden previously. She has good gaits, is an easy ride, and is nicely broke. She is still quite green and seems to have been started under saddle without much gentling or ground work first. Because of this, Pebbles has been working on relaxing, polishing her skills under saddle and on the ground, and learning to trust and look to her rider as her leader. This smarty-pants has a good head on her and has proven that she can make progress even with infrequent work.

At the Ranch, Pebbles is living with a mixed group of rescues and sits in the middle of the hierarchy. Despite being pregnant or nursing for the majority of her time with us, Pebbles still seems to be a pretty easy keeper and doesn’t require much grain. She has a naturally sleek and athletic frame but could do with building up a bit more muscle. Her build, blue roan coloring, and her bright blue eye make her one stunning gal to see! This sassy lady can have a bit of a mare attitude and can sometimes be hard to catch if the mood strikes her. But she is consistently gentle and doesn’t turn to aggression to try to get what she wants. Pebbles does well with the vet and the farrier and is currently barefoot with no issues.

Pebbles is up-to-date on vaccines, worming, teeth float, farrier, and vetting.

Recommended Rider:   Suitable for a trainer or advanced rider working with a trainer. Pebbles needs further work and finishing to reach her full potential. She will benefit from working with a confident rider and a strong leader.

Adoption Requirements:   None. Pebbles has a healthy connection with her colt Calvin and gets along well with the other horses in her herd. However, she is a pretty independent girl and is therefore happy to be adopted out alone.

    Ailments or Limitations:   None.

PEBBLES IS STILL CURRENTLY UNDERGOING TRAINING AND EVALUATION AT BELIEVE RANCH & RESCUE AND IS NOT CURRENTLY UP FOR ADOPTION. HOWEVER, SHE WILL BE AVAILABLE AND LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER HOME SOON!
