NashBlack Solid Paint Quarter Horse or QH Cross Gelding

    Name:   Nash
Breed and Color:   Black Solid Paint Quarter Horse
    Age:   5
    Height:   14.3 hh
    Gender:   Gelding

Like a gleaming hunk of obsidian, Nash is an eye-catching horse in the field. And it has been killing us that that is the only place we’ve been able to see him so far! This sweet, young horse was rescued from auction when he was dumped there after suffering a bad kick to the shoulder. The poor boy’s muscle was so damaged that it atrophied and has required a long time to heal. However, we are finally starting to see his limp disappear and his muscle starting to build back up! He still has some sensitivity but he has already come so far since he first arrived. Unlike a lot of other horses we save, we are lucky to have stumbled on a source that knew Nash before he ended up with his last owner. We were told that he was purchased as a yearling as a roping prospect and resale project at a reining ranch. He was started and green broke but his trainer didn’t have time to continue with him and, knowing his potential, wanted to pass him on to someone who could help him fulfill his potential. With his athletic, stocky frame and handsome looks, we are poised at the edge of our seats ready to jump into work the minute we know he is ready!

Gentle and friendly Nash has been enjoying his recovery in a nice size paddock with a mixed herd. He sits on the lower end of the social totem pole and we expect that he would get along with any combination of horses. Ever the cutie, Nash is nice to the vet and farrier but is a little bit reactionary with the unknown. A lot of that is likely just his youthful inexperience and we’ll be working on that once he is medically cleared. His good, barefoot feet are just the white icing (literally, since he has three big white socks!) on this ultra-dark chocolate cake.

Nash is up-to-date on vaccines, worming, teeth float, farrier, and vetting.

Recommended Rider:  Nash came into rescue with his injury and we have been unable to work with him as he recovers. However, we were told that he is green broke and we anticipate that he will likely be fit for an advanced rider or trainer who can further his education. We are hopeful that he is close to being fully recovered and look forward to getting him under saddle for an official evaluation soon!

Adoption Requirements:   None. Nash is a nice guy and gets along well with the other horses in his herd. However, he is a pretty independent boy and is therefore happy to be adopted out alone.

Ailments/Limitations:  Nash suffered a kick to his left shoulder prior to arriving at Believe. Unfortunately for this young horse, his injury was quite severe and resulted in his muscle atrophying. Thanks to laser therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic work, and pasture rest, his pain and limp have diminished after around nine months and his muscle build is becoming more symmetrical again. Our vet is optimistic that he will recover and get back to being the sporty guy that he is soon!

NASH IS STILL CURRENTLY UNDERGOING TRAINING AND EVALUATION AT BELIEVE RANCH & RESCUE AND IS NOT CURRENTLY UP FOR ADOPTION. HOWEVER, HE WILL BE AVAILABLE AND LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME SOON!
