Say hello to Calvin, the first baby born at Believe Ranch & Rescue! He also wears the badge of “youngest rescue” since he wasn’t even earthside yet when his mom, Pebbles, was rescued from auction in spring 2021. Unknown to us, Pebbles was heavily pregnant when she was saved and sweet Calvin was born a few months later. Since then, he has been the darling of the Ranch and it really shows! Calvin is sociable, loving, used to being handled, and loves attention. He may be a smidge spoiled but it really hasn’t turned him rotten. He’s one of the sweetest colts you will ever meet!
Calvin is doing well with halter training, grooming, and is also working on getting used to blankets and having his feet touched. He also did well with his trailering to and from the vet for his gelding and hernia surgery! He’s a typical colt with a good amount of energy and sass but also loves his naps and snuggles. He can be a little bit of a pest to horses and humans, as is expected with a baby that is learning boundaries and rules, but he isn’t pushy and his manners are pretty darn good if we don’t say so ourselves! This cute colt is loved by humans and horses alike, and we are all so excited to see his personality and talent bloom.
Calvin is up-to-date on vaccines, worming, teeth float, farrier, and vetting.
Recommended Rider: Suitable for a Trainer who has experience with proper training and starting young horses. Calvin is filled to the brim with potential and is a blank slate. With the right care and education, he has a bright future ahead of him!
Adoption Requirements: None. Calvin gets along with our other rescues and residents but, like his mother, is an independent spirit and is happy to be adopted out alone.
Ailments/Limitations: None. Calvin was diagnosed with a hernia as a foal but had a successful surgical repair at 10 months old. He has had no issues since then and is a healthy young horse.
CALVIN IS STILL UNDERGOING TRAINING AND EVALUATION AT BELIEVE RANCH & RESCUE AND IS NOT CURRENTLY UP FOR ADOPTION. HOWEVER, HE WILL BE AVAILABLE AND LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME SOON!
